USAL represented Lebanon in this championship and qualified in previous rounds with merit and distinction, scoring an unprecedented progress by a Lebanese team.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rawan Hurshi and Hiba Dhaini also won third and tenth places consecutively as Best Speakers in the championship.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Debating students departed last Friday to participate in the championship held in Qatar, and compete among 255 speakers from 100 universities worldwide.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The closing ceremony of the championship held at Doha was attended by cultural, academic and social representatives from different countries, on top of which was the Lebanese Ambassador to Qatar, Mrs. Farah Berri.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students received training in mechanisms of debating, and other skills necessary for this championship by the head of \u201cDiscuss, Debate &amp; Discourse Community\u201d, the trainer and engineer Mr. Hassan Al Husseini.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Topics debated by the USAL team and other participating teams varied, and included \u201cEconomic Instability, Lack of Opportunities, Conflicts, Freedom Restriction, Islamophobia, Hatred, Loss of Identity\u201d among others.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-89833d3 elementor-blockquote--skin-quotation elementor-blockquote--button-color-official elementor-widget elementor-widget-blockquote\" data-id=\"89833d3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"blockquote.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\"elementor-blockquote\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-blockquote__content\">\n\t\t\t\tThis victory is not just ours; it is a testament to the talent and determination of Lebanese students on the global stage.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<footer>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<cite class=\"elementor-blockquote__author\">Rawan Hurshi, USAL Debater<\/cite>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/footer>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8fd1230 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"8fd1230\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">A Historic Achievement: USAL Represents Lebanon with Pride<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dd0f255 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"dd0f255\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s noteworthy that last January, the team qualified for the 2024 National Championship for Lebanon\u2019s University Debates, organized by SMART Center, in partnership with \u201cDiscuss, Debate &amp; Discourse Community\u201d, and in cooperation with \u201cQatarDebate Center\u201d, to represent Lebanon in the championship, along with the teams of the Lebanese University and American University of Beirut.
